Unfortunately, unlike mice such as the Logitech G500, the Sentinel Advance II doesn’t come with any sort of carrying case for the weights, which means if you remove the weights, you’ll have a pretty good chance of losing them if you are an unorganized person. The mouse comes with five 4.5g weights with each fitting in a slot under the mouse so they don’t shift around during use. The bottom of the mouse also has a removable cover that grants you access to the adjustable weight system. If you’re using mousepads such as the CM Storm RX, you won’t have any problems, but if you’re using grooved mousepads, you may find that the feet may meet some resistance in the grooves. Although they are larger than the ones found on the Razer DeathAdder, they are tiny compared many other gaming mice on the market such as the Corsair M60.
The Sentinel Advanced II comes with small feet. CoolerMaster didn’t go overboard with the logo this time, printing only a subtle CM STORM on the palm rest. It’s got a very large back to support a person’s entire hand. Like the rest of the buttons on the mouse, these have quite the sturdy feel and require some force to press.įrom this picture we can see that the mouse is a palm grip mouse. The CM Storm Sentinel Advance II also comes with two side buttons which are somewhat smaller when compared to some other mice such as the Razer DeathAdder. Since the two small buttons behind the scroll wheel (for adjusting DPI) can be hard to distinguish, Cooler Master added a bump on the left button so users may know which button they are about to press. The body of the mouse has a nice matte feel to it, and the construction overall is quite solid as well. The left and right click buttons are made with ABS plastic and feel quite sturdy. The Sentinel Advance II comes with 8 buttons, all of which are programmable. The sides of the mouse use a high quality matte material to increase traction between the user’s fingers and the mouse. After some use, the mousepad flattened out very nicely. Once removed from the box, the mousepad was a bit curly at the edge, but it wasn’t a big problem. Small and medium sized editions of the mousepad are available as well.
The large sized Speed RX mousepad uses 100% natural rubber and measures 5mm thick, 450mm wide and 350mm long. The mousepad we’re taking a look at today is the Speed RX mousepad which uses a synthetic mesh that’s comprised of nano fibers to increase compatibility with high-grade optical and laser sensors. Aside from that, the Sentinel Advance II kept all of the features of its older sibling – the mini LCD screen, the meshed palm rest with a LEDs underneath, 8 programmable buttons, etc.

So why the different name? A closer examination of the box reveals that the Advance II received a sensor update to the new Avago ADNS-9800 laser sensor along with a bit more onboard memory as well. Today we’ll be checking out a couple such products – the Cooler Master CM Storm Sentinel Advance II along with the Speed RX mouse pad.Īt first glance, the Sentinel Advance II doesn’t look so different from the Sentinel Advance, which is the previous generation model its built on. However, sometimes you just want something fancier – something that will make anyone who looks at your desk say “Hey, that’s a really cool gadget, where can I find one?”
At the end of the day, it’s almost always about how well products work that really counts.
